Stephen Hawking renowned scientist, dies at age 76 

Stephen William Hawking (8 Jan, 1942 – 14 March, 2018), is British theoretical physicist. Hawking was also a cosmologist, astronomer, mathematician, scientist and author of various books. His book "A Brief History of Time," appeared on the British Sunday Times as best-seller list for a record-breaking 237 weeks -10 million copies has been sold all over the world.

Stephen Hawking suffered from Aamyotrophic lateral Sclerosis, which  is a neuro degenerative disease which is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was diagnosed in 1963, in the age 21.The disease left Hawking paralyzed and using a wheelchair for mobility. He can make only few fingers movements on one hand and was fully depend on other people and on technology devices and equipment's for virtually everything like bathing, dressing, eating. He was able to talk with the help of speech synthesizer which is connected to the wheelchair.

Hawking is a lifetime member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. And Stephen Hawking honored with Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. In 2002, Hawking was ranked as 25 in the BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons.
